Muscle & Fascia Therapy
About this treatment
The deeper layer where lasting change happens
Most tension has a story. The shoulder that has been tight for years. The lower back that flares up every few weeks. The neck that never quite releases no matter how many massages you have. These are rarely just muscle problems — they are fascial patterns: restrictions in the web of connective tissue that surrounds every muscle, bone and organ in your body. When fascia becomes restricted through repetitive strain, old injuries, stress or simply years of postural habits, it pulls. Compresses. Creates the kind of holding that ordinary massage can soften temporarily but never quite resolve.
Muscle & Fascia Therapy is where I go when clients need something more. I combine deep tissue techniques, myofascial release and sustained trigger point work to address the tissue at a structural level — not just relaxing what’s tight, but helping the body reorganise the patterns that have been maintaining that tightness. The work is slower than standard massage, more intentional. I listen to where the tissue is holding, wait for it to signal a release, and follow that release rather than forcing it.
Most clients describe the sensation as a productive intensity — distinct from pain, recognisable as something that’s working. And the results are correspondingly deeper: changes that hold between sessions, movement that returns, pain that reduces not just for a day but in an ongoing way. This is the treatment for clients who are ready to address the root, not just the symptom.
Why choose this
The advantages of a Muscle & Fascia Therapy in Bonaire
Release of deep fascial restrictions
Fascial adhesions and restrictions create the kind of holding that ordinary massage only temporarily softens. By working directly with the fascial system, this treatment helps the body reorganise patterns it has been maintaining for months or years.
Relief from chronic, recurring tension
When the same tight spots keep returning, the cause is structural -- not just muscular. Muscle & Fascia Therapy addresses the underlying pattern rather than just the symptom, creating changes that hold between sessions and accumulate over time.
Restored range of motion and postural freedom
Fascial restrictions limit movement in ways that stretching alone cannot address. As restrictions release, range of motion returns -- sometimes dramatically -- and the posture begins to reorganise toward its natural alignment.
Lasting structural change, not just temporary relief
The goal of this treatment is not to provide a few hours of relief but to create genuine change in the tissue. Most clients notice that effects accumulate over a series of sessions -- each one building on the last.

What happens during your Muscle & Fascia Therapy session?
We begin with a thorough intake — I want to understand the full picture of where you hold tension, what movements feel restricted, what your daily life looks like and whether there’s any injury history that’s relevant. This shapes everything about the session. I’ll also ask about your pressure preferences — not because we won’t go deep, but because productive depth is something we find together, not something I impose.
The session itself moves more slowly than a relaxation massage. I work systematically through the areas of greatest restriction, using sustained pressure, specific cross-fibre friction and myofascial techniques that invite the tissue to release on its own terms. I’ll often pause and hold, waiting for the subtle signal — a softening, a warmth, a gentle give — that tells me a restriction is resolving. Sessions run 60 to 90 minutes and leave most clients feeling both lighter and more grounded than when they arrived.
Is this treatment right for you?
Muscle & Fascia Therapy is ideal if you have chronic, recurring tension that hasn’t responded fully to regular massage, or if you’re dealing with postural pain, old injury patterns or restricted movement. For the deepest structural hip and back work, combine it with the Psoas Release. If neurological reflex patterns are part of the picture, the Connective Tissue Massage addresses these from a different angle. Active people may benefit from pairing this with the Sports Massage, and for circulation and lymphatic support alongside structural work, Cupping Massage is an excellent complement.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Muscle & Fascia Therapy?
Muscle & Fascia Therapy is a results-focused therapeutic treatment that combines deep tissue massage, myofascial release, IASTM, and percussive therapy. Unlike relaxation massage, this treatment targets specific muscular and fascial issues — chronic tension, restricted mobility, pain patterns, and sports recovery.
How is this different from a regular massage?
A regular relaxation massage focuses on calming the nervous system and providing general stress relief. Muscle & Fascia Therapy goes deeper — literally. We work through layers of muscle and fascia to release restrictions, address trigger points, and produce measurable improvements in mobility and pain. The results last longer and go further.
Which body areas can I choose?
You can target neck & shoulders, upper back, lower back, hips & glutes, legs (front or back), arms, or the full backside. For a complete full-body treatment, we offer a 120-minute integration session. During your consultation, we’ll help you decide what your body needs most.
Is this a good treatment after a day of diving on Bonaire?
Absolutely — this is one of the best post-dive treatments you can get. Diving puts significant strain on the neck and shoulders (from the BCD and tank), the lower back (from the bent posture underwater), and the legs. Muscle & Fascia Therapy addresses all of these areas directly and speeds up recovery so you’re ready for your next dive.
Is this treatment painful?
Deep tissue work can be intense — especially on areas holding significant tension — but it should never be unbearable. We always work within your comfort level and adjust pressure throughout the session. Most people describe the sensation as ‘good pain’ — productive and releasing.
Who should avoid this treatment?
This treatment is not suitable during acute injuries, active inflammation, fever, or in areas with suspected blood clots or thrombosis. If you’re on blood thinners or have osteoporosis, please let your therapist know in advance. For general relaxation without therapeutic depth, the Relaxation Massage is a better fit.
How long does the treatment take and what does it cost?
Duration varies by the area(s) selected — individual areas are shorter sessions, while full-body integration runs 120 minutes. Pricing is listed on the Massage Bonaire pricelist page. We recommend booking in advance, especially during high season.
Can I book same-day?
Same-day bookings are often possible depending on therapist availability. Contact Massage Bonaire directly or check online for current availability. During peak tourist season on the island, booking ahead is strongly recommended.
