Hot Stone Massage
About this treatment
Heat that goes deeper than your hands can reach
There is something almost elemental about the combination of warm stone and skilled touch. Basalt stones — formed by ancient volcanic activity, shaped smooth by centuries of ocean current — hold heat in a way that is uniquely therapeutic. When I place them along your spine, your shoulders, the soles of your feet, your body doesn’t just feel warmth. It responds to it. Muscles that have been held tight for weeks begin to soften. Connective tissue releases. Your nervous system shifts, almost immediately, into a quieter register.
I trained in Hot Stone Massage because I wanted to offer something that reaches the places my hands, on their own, sometimes can’t. Deep muscle layers that resist ordinary pressure will open to sustained warmth. The stones do half the work before I even begin — by the time I start working into tissue, your body is already halfway there. The result is a depth of release that clients often describe as unlike anything they’ve experienced.
Each stone is heated to exactly the right temperature — warm enough to penetrate, never uncomfortable. I work with them as extensions of my hands: placing, gliding, pressing. The session moves between the stones and direct bodywork so that heat and technique support each other throughout. By the end, you will feel warm from the inside out — not just relaxed, but genuinely, deeply rested.

What happens during your Hot Stone Massage?
We begin with you lying comfortably on the table. I warm a selection of smooth basalt stones in water to the right therapeutic temperature, and as we start, I place a row of them along your spine — allowing the heat to begin working into your back muscles while I attend to other areas. Throughout the session, I alternate between using the stones to glide across larger muscle groups and placing them in specific positions to hold sustained warmth while I work elsewhere with my hands.
The stones allow me to access deeper layers of muscle without excessive pressure — the heat does the releasing, and my technique guides and supports. Most clients drift in and out of a deeply restful state. Sessions typically run 75 to 90 minutes to allow full-body coverage with adequate stone work.
Is this treatment right for you?
Hot Stone Massage is particularly wonderful if you carry chronic muscle tension, feel the cold deeply, struggle to switch off, or simply want an experience that goes beyond ordinary massage. It pairs beautifully with the Relaxation Massage philosophy but adds therapeutic depth. For couples wanting to share the experience, our Couples Massage can include hot stones. If you’re drawn to heat therapy, you may also love the Hammam Massage or the warmth of Gemstone Massage.

Frequently Asked Questions
What exactly is a hot stone massage?
A hot stone massage is a therapeutic treatment that combines the placement of smooth, heated basalt volcanic stones on key points of the body with hands-on massage techniques. The stones are warmed to a precise therapeutic temperature and used both as stationary heat sources and as massage tools, gliding across the body with warm oil. The combination of heat and skilled touch creates a uniquely deep and soothing experience that goes well beyond a standard massage.
Is a hot stone massage good after a day of diving in Bonaire?
Absolutely — it’s one of the most popular choices among divers visiting the island. Diving places real physical demand on the shoulders, neck, upper back, and core, and the therapeutic heat of the stones works directly into those overworked muscles. Improved circulation from the treatment also supports your body’s natural recovery process. We do recommend waiting at least a few hours after your final dive before receiving any massage treatment.
How long is the session and where can I see pricing?
Hot stone massage sessions are available in multiple durations to fit your schedule and needs. For full details on session lengths and current pricing, please visit our pricing page or contact us directly. We recommend booking in advance, especially during peak travel seasons on the island.
What does a hot stone massage feel like?
Most guests describe it as deeply warming, grounding, and profoundly relaxing — quite different from a traditional massage. The heat from the stones creates an almost meditative sense of heaviness and calm very quickly, and the slow, flowing strokes amplify that feeling throughout the session. By the end, most people describe feeling as though they’re floating — relaxed in a way that’s both physical and mental.
Who should consider a hot stone massage?
This treatment is ideal for anyone experiencing chronic muscle tension, cold sensitivity, general stress, or fatigue from travel and physical activity. It’s particularly loved by those who prefer deep relaxation without intense pressure, as the heat does much of the deep work naturally. It’s also a wonderful choice for guests with mild arthritis or those who simply crave warmth and restoration.
Is there anyone who should avoid a hot stone massage?
Hot stone massage is not recommended for individuals with certain health conditions including pregnancy, active skin conditions or open wounds, high blood pressure that is unmanaged, or those with impaired sensation in parts of the body. If you have any health concerns, please mention them during your pre-session consultation and your therapist will advise accordingly. Your safety and comfort are always the priority.
Can I book a hot stone massage the same day?
Same-day bookings are sometimes available depending on the schedule, but we strongly recommend booking in advance to secure your preferred time — especially during busy periods on the island. You can check availability and book directly through our website, or contact us by phone or message. Planning ahead means one less thing to think about on your Caribbean escape.
