Sound Therapy
About this treatment
When sound becomes healing
I still remember the first time I placed a singing bowl on a client’s back and struck it gently — the expression of pure release on her face told me everything. Sound Therapy is one of those rare treatments where you don’t have to do anything at all; the vibrations do the work for you. The resonant tones of Tibetan singing bowls ripple through your body, reaching places that hands alone sometimes cannot.
What makes this treatment so special to me is how effortlessly it bridges the physical and the emotional. Sound travels through water and tissue, and since our bodies are mostly water, every cell responds. Tension softens. The nervous system shifts from fight-or-flight into rest-and-restore. You may feel a gentle tingling, a warmth spreading through your limbs, or simply an overwhelming sense of peace — and all of that is exactly right.
In my practice on Bonaire I combine the placement of singing bowls directly on and around your body with gentle tapping rhythms, guiding you into a meditative state that most people describe as unlike anything they have experienced before. You arrive with the weight of the day on your shoulders; you leave feeling lighter, clearer, and deeply rested.
Why choose this
The advantages of a Sound Therapy in Bonaire
Deep full-body relaxation
The vibrations of the singing bowls resonate through every cell of your body, releasing tension that words or even touch cannot always reach. You don't listen to this treatment — you feel it, from the inside out.
Stress and anxiety relief
Sound has a measurable effect on your nervous system. The specific frequencies of singing bowls slow brainwave activity, lower cortisol levels and guide your body into a state of deep parasympathetic rest — the state in which true healing happens.
Mental clarity and emotional balance
Many clients describe feeling mentally clearer and emotionally lighter after a sound therapy session — as if a fog has lifted. The vibrations help dissolve energetic blockages and restore a sense of inner alignment.
Better sleep and nervous system reset
A sound therapy session is one of the most powerful tools I know for resetting an overactivated nervous system. Many clients report sleeping more deeply and waking more rested in the days that follow.

What happens during your Sound Therapy session?
You lie comfortably on the massage table, fully clothed, in a warm and softly lit space. I place several Tibetan singing bowls on and around your body and begin to play them in a slow, intentional sequence. The vibrations travel through you in waves, melting muscular tension and quieting mental chatter at the same time.
As the session progresses I may vary the rhythm and intensity of the bowls, following your body’s response. Some clients drift into a light sleep; others enter a vivid, dreamlike state of awareness. Both are perfectly welcome. The session closes with a few moments of silence, giving your body time to integrate everything it has received.
Is this treatment right for you?
Sound Therapy is wonderfully suited to anyone who carries chronic stress, tension headaches, sleep difficulties, or emotional fatigue. Because no pressure is applied to the body, it is a gentle and safe option for most people. If you enjoy the deep calm of Sound Therapy, you may also love:

Frequently Asked Questions
What makes your Sound Therapy different from a regular sound bath?
The key difference is that our therapists place specially selected therapeutic singing bowls directly on your body — not just in the surrounding space. You don’t just hear the vibrations; you feel them internally. Different bowls are placed on different areas (chest, abdomen, legs, back) and played while in contact with your body. This internal-plus-external vibration creates an experience qualitatively different from a standard sound bath.
Do I need to undress for Sound Therapy?
No. Sound Therapy is conducted while you are fully clothed or lightly dressed. This makes it one of our most accessible treatments — ideal for guests who prefer minimal contact or are moving between activities during their stay on the island.
What will I actually feel during the treatment?
When a bowl is placed on your body and played, you’ll feel the vibration physically — a gentle buzzing or humming that travels through your tissues. The sound in the room creates an enveloping acoustic atmosphere. Many guests enter deep relaxation quickly, some reaching a dreamlike state or falling lightly asleep. Most describe leaving feeling calm, grounded, and mentally clear.
Is Sound Therapy suitable for everyone?
Sound Therapy suits most people. However, it is not recommended for those with epilepsy, pacemakers, or in the first trimester of pregnancy without prior medical consultation. If you have any concerns, please contact us before booking.
How does Sound Therapy help after a day of diving or water sports on Bonaire?
Physical exertion — especially diving and kitesurfing — leaves the nervous system in an activated state. Sound Therapy is one of the most effective ways to transition from sympathetic activation to deep parasympathetic rest. The vibrational frequencies also help ease muscle fatigue without any direct pressure, making it ideal for tired bodies that need rest, not more work.
How long is the session and what does it cost?
Session duration and pricing are listed on the Massage Bonaire pricelist. We recommend booking in advance — Sound Therapy is one of our most unique treatments and availability can be limited.
Can I combine Sound Therapy with other treatments?
Yes — Sound Therapy works beautifully as a standalone experience or as a complement to deeper bodywork. Many guests choose it following a Relaxation Massage or Connective Tissue treatment to deepen integration. Ask about combination options when booking.
